Starting your journey as a Girl Scout leader can be a bit intimidating. There is so much to do and learn in your first year. Many Girl Scout Daisy leaders focus on the petals and Promise Center, and then wonder what to do the second year if the entire Daisy is completed. Until recently, girls could not do official badge work until they were Girl Scout Brownies.
The Girl Scouts of the USA listened to leaders when they expressed an interest in doing badge work with Daisies. There are presently 22 badges that girls can earn.
First, do not worry about earning them all! It simply is not possible unless you meet weekly and over the summer. The beauty of having so many different badges is that you have a choice. What works for one troop may not work for another. Adding badge work to community service projects, field trips, Girl Scout holiday celebrations, and cookie season helps to round out the year. If this is a bridging year, you also have to focus on that in the spring. Pick and choose which badge your troop will enjoy doing and that you will enjoy planning and leading.
This is what this site is all about. The planning has already been done for you. Feel free to tweak activities or add different ones that will help your troop earn the badge you are working on.
