Children are fascinated by space. Whta makes the sun hot? Why does the moon change its shape? How far away are the stars? These are all questions you scouts can explore as they earn the Daisy Space Science Explorere Badge.

Step 1 Explore the Sun
Ask the girls what they know about the sun. After sharing, you can do one of two things.
1. Show this YouTube video of Facts About the Sun for kids. Start at the 2:40 mark and end at the 8:35 mark, so it is a tad less than six minutes.
2. There Are many books about the sun for kids that have amazing illustrations. (scroll to the end of this post for some great children's books to share with your girls).
Now it is time for hands on learning. Here are some fun sun science experiments to do with your girls.
Step 2 Observe the Moon
For this step, you can repeat what you did for the sun, like asking wht they know about the moon. There are many fantastic YouTube videos to show that are short, sweet, and to the point. Here is just one of them:

Step 3 Meet the Stars
Your girls can make a pretend telescope for this step. Here are some different ones for you to do.
